Making it easier to provide identification

When you apply to join the Housing Register, we need you to send us various identification documents, so we can process your application.

Until now, we’ve needed you to either email us photos or scans of your ID or send copies to us in the post.

This has not only made the application process more complicated and time consuming for you, but it has also meant more administration for HomeLink Officers, increasing the time it takes to process applications.

We’ve been working hard to make this easier by including document uploads as part of the online application process through Housing Online.

This is now live and as of Thursday 1 September 2022 we no longer accept documents by email or by post.

Already registered with HomeLink?

If your application is processed and you're registered with HomeLink you can now use Housing Online to upload additional documents that might be required if you have a change of circumstance - you will still need to complete a change of circumstances form as well as uploading your proofs so this can be reviewed.

This will not only make things simpler for you, by enabling you to do everything all in the same place, it’ll reduce our administration and should mean we are able to process applications faster.

We’ve produced step-by-step guides that shows you how to do this - whether you're a new applicant or you're an existing live applicant already registered with HomeLink.

They can be be downloaded by clicking the link that is relevant to you and the device you're using, below:

New applicants (you have a saved housing application that has not yet been completed or you have submitted an application that has not yet been assessed by HomeLink)

Uploading documents on a smartphone if you're a new applicant

Uploading documents on a laptop, desktop computer or a tablet if you're a new applicant

Existing live applicant (you are an existing live applicant and you need to send us some new or updated documentation as a result of a change in your circumstances)

Uploading documents on a smartphone if you're an existing live applicant

Uploading documents on a laptop, desktop computer or a tablet if you're an existing live applicant

And we're of course available should you need support or advice with providing your identification information.
