Post-Brexit eligibility for housing and housing support

**If you are not a UK / EU / EEA citizen, we will have asked you to provide more information before we could tell you if you are able to join the waiting list.**

EU Settlement Scheme

The Government has committed to preserving the existing rights of EEA citizens who are living and working in the UK before 1 January 2021. If you are an EEA citizen, the EU Settlement Scheme allows you to apply for settled status free of charge.

You must do this by Wednesday 30 June 2021 and we would recommend that you do that as soon as possible.

Before this deadline, eligible EEA citizens can continue to access benefits and services on broadly the same basis as now, regardless of whether you have proven settled status.

If you have been accepted on to the Nottingham HomeLink Housing Register, it's important that you make an application for settled status as soon as possible. Find out more here.

At the point of making an offer to you for housing, all eligible applicants will need to provide proof of their settled status and/or eligibility for housing at the point of any allocation. If this can't be provided, an offer of a home may not be able to happen.

Organisations like Nottingham Law Centre and Citizens Advice can help you if you have any questions or are unsure of the process.
