A property that is 'discounted for sale' is one which has been reduced in price to make it affordable for people in housing need and who would not be in a position to purchase it at the full market value.
As with buying on the open market, you will still need to be able to get a mortgage and meet all of the legal and deposit costs. A discounted home is a fixed equity home and you cannot buy further shares in the property. However, unlike 'shared ownership' schemes you do not have to pay rent in addition to your mortgage.
In order to be nominated for one of the properties, you will need to be able to show that you meet our eligibility criteria. You can find information about this in the leaflet 'Information about buying an affordable home in Nottingham City' which is available through this web page.
There are currently two discounted schemes in the Nottingham City Area that are ready for applications:
- 'Trinity Mews' site at Smedley Close, Aspley developed by Hallam Homes. Contact 01509 686100
- 'Albion Place' site at Park Lane, Basford developed by Primo. Contact 0115 9792038
Applications Forms must be returned by recorded delivery or they will not be accepted.
